The Estate of Sigmar Polke is compiling a comprehensive archive of Sigmar Polke’s work, as well as a catalogue raisonné.
In addition to information about individual works such as date, media etc, provenance information and exhibition history as well as documents, literature, and visual material will be collected. The catalogue raisonné will be a critical catalogue of paintings, works on paper, prints, photographs, objects, Xerox works, installations, and films by Sigmar Polke.
We ask all owners of works by Sigmar Polke for their assistance. Please provide information about any works of the artist that are in your possession:

Once your information is received, you will receive an acknowledgement with a process number under which the work is listed with us. All information submitted will be treated confidentially.
The work on the catalogue raisonné is overseen by a scholarly advisory committee
The decision as to whether a work will be included in the catalogue raissoné lies with the Estate and the scholarly advisory committee and will be based on art historical findings.
The following aspects will be considered:
- Documentation of a work through exhibitions and publications
- Provenance and signature
- Visual inspection in regards to material, technique, style
The catalogue raisonné itself is the collection of the results of these decisions that consider the current state of knowledge. All rights to revise decisions to include or not include a work in the catalogue raisonné are reserved; revision can take place at any time on the basis of new findings.
After a decision has been made, a written notice about it can be furnished, if desired. A fee will be charged for such written notices.
